January 27, a regular meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was held. One of the discussed issues at the meeting was the establishment of ANAS Science and Technology Park attached to Department of General Affairs of ANAS.

President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that one of the important spheres of the reforms carried out in ANAS is to strengthen scientific innovation and networking of science and industry at the level of modern requirements. Academician added that, according to international experience, innovative projects should first undergo an examination to the institution in accordance with the rules of the scientific and technical council then must be submitted to business incubation stage in accordance with the stages of the birth of ideas, analysis, concept, prototyping and finished product. Projects should be developed according to the function of technology transfer, and after receiving a positive response prototype of the product to be prepared for mass production in industry. From this point of view, it felt the need to develop in ANAS innovation policy and its implementation, as well as the creation, along with the Department of Innovation, operating in the field of expansion of opportunities for cooperation with relevant partners, a special structural organization, ensuring the implementation of the aforementioned innovative process in practice.

Given all of the above, and also to build mechanisms of innovative projects in the industry, conducting development activities and monitoring of bringing scientific and technological innovations in a state of readiness for mass production in industry it was accepted to establish ANAS Science and Technology Park attached to Department of General Affairs of ANAS by the Presidium and approve its regulation.
