A meeting dedicated to February 2-Azerbaijan Youth Day was held at ANAS.
Our state values youth as the leading force of the country’s future development and implements important policy aimed at uncovering their intellectual potential, raising them based on national and modern values, and ensuring their active participation in the social, economic, and cultural life of society.
It was said by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli at the event dedicated to February 2-Azerbaijan Youth Day, held at the Presidium of ANAS.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned that the youth policy of independent Azerbaijan has been formed as an important part of the far-sighted statehood strategy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and has embarked on a path of sustainable development. Today, the youth policy successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev is an essential part of the state strategy, which responds to modern challenges, is based on innovative approaches, and ensures the comprehensive development of youth. The reforms carried out under the leadership of the head of state open up broad opportunities for youth to fully realize their potential in education, science, culture, sport, and other fields. At the same time, Azerbaijani youth represent our country with dignity on international platforms and actively participate in defending our national interests. State support for programs and initiatives that promote scientific and technological development creates an environment for youth to apply their knowledge and skills at a higher level.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli expressed his gratitude to the head of state on behalf of the staff of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences for the value given to youth and the high appreciation of their potential.
The Academician underlined that ANAS has also made significant contributions to the development of scientific potential in the country and the training of young researchers. He emphasized that the Academy pays special attention to engaging youth in scientific activities, expanding their research opportunities, and integrating them into modern scientific achievements. “The successes of young scientists and specialists are not only their personal achievements but also a guarantee of scientific and intellectual development of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the defense of dissertations of youth must be ensured, and any emerging difficulties should be addressed on time”-he emphasized.
The head of ANAS also instructed the directors of the scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS to promote a group of young scientists who have demonstrated high scientific achievements by one rank.
Emphasizing that today young scientists have justified the trust placed in them through their high achievements and continue to contribute to the country’s sustainable development with their knowledge and skills that meet modern challenges, the President of ANAS added that a “Young Scientist of the Year” competition has recently been held at the Academy.
According to the results of the competition, Elnura Huseynova, senior researcher at the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics and PhD in Philology was awarded the “Young Scientist of the Year” diploma of ANAS and a monetary prize. The winners in the “Young Scientist of the Year” nomination also include: Zeynab Hajamova, senior specialist in the Vice President’s Office of the Presidium administration ANAS, Telli Aliyeva, Head of Department at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature and PhD in Philology, Asim Jannatov, junior researcher at the Academician Ziya Bunyadov Institute of Oriental Studies, Shahane Shahbazova, junior researcher at the Academician Ziya Bunyadov Institute of Oriental Studies, Gunay Bayramova, researcher and PhD student at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, Nigar Ismayilova, junior researcher and PhD candidate at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Kubra Valiyeva, researcher at the Manuscripts Fund of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, Ayshan Salmanova, researcher at the Sheki Regional Scientific Center, Mirmahammad Babayev, researcher at the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center, Simuzar Gafarli, Head of Department of the Ganja Division of ANAS and PhD candidate, Sharqiyya Imamali, researcher and PhD candidate at the former Institute of the Caucasus Studies, Zuriya Garayeva, chief specialist at the Central Scientific Library and PhD in Political Sciences.
At the event, the names of the scientific staff who published the most articles in prestigious scientometric databases (Web of Science and Scopus) during 2024, as well as those who ranked in the top three based on the number of articles, were announced. According to the relevant decision of the Presidium, they were awarded the monetary prizes. Among those who published the most scientific articles the first place was taken by Huseyn Huseynov, Director of the Central Scientific Library, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the second place went to the Director of the Seismic Survey Center, corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli, leading researcher of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, PhD in History, Dmitri Kirichenko, and Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Art, Language, and Literature of the Nakhchivan Division, PhD in Philology, Zulfiyya Ismail. The third place was taken by the Head of the Department at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, PhD in History, Bakhtyar Jalilov.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli presented the “Young Scientist of the Year” diplomas of ANAS to the young winners of the competition, as well as awards to the employees who published the most articles in prestigious scientometric databases in 2024.
Then, Mirjavid Agalarov, a researcher and doctoral candidate at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS who was awarded the 2025 Presidential Prize for Youth by the relevant decree of the head of state, delivered a speech at the event expressing his gratitude to the head of state for the high recognition.
Later, the Director of the Central Scientific Library, Doctor of Technical Sciences Huseyn Huseynov, the Chairman of the Young Scientists and Specialists Council of ANAS, PhD in Chemistry Elmir Babayev, the Head of the Department at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor Gunel Malikli, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi, PhD in Philology Elnura Huseynova, Junior Researcher at the Academician Ziya Bunyadov Institute of Oriental Studies Asim Jannatov, Researcher at the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center Mirmahammad Babayev, and others also delivered speeches at the meeting. They underlined that in recent years, the opportunities for youth at ANAS have been further expanded, and comprehensive conditions have been created for their scientific development, and pointed out that the leadership of ANAS has always shown high attention and care towards youth.
It was noted that receiving these awards, which reflect the importance the state places on the development of science, not only evokes a sense of pride but also imposes great responsibility and serves as an incentive for further scientific activities.
At the end, Academician Isa Habibbeyli sincerely congratulated the young scientists and specialists on February 2-Azerbaijan Youth Day, expressing confidence that their knowledge and successes based on innovation would contribute to the country’s scientific development. He wished them tireless determination, broad perspectives, and achievements on this path.
