Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On February 17, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with the members of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who are on a visit to our country.

During the meeting Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that in recent years, the relations between our countries have been experiencing their peak period due to the strong friendly and fraternal relations between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He noted that, just like in all other areas, the relations between our countries in the field of science have also developed to a high level. Currently, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences closely cooperates with the academic institutions and higher education establishments of Kazakhstan. The head of ANAS underlined that scientific conferences, symposiums, and projects had been realized with joint participation of scientists from both countries, conducting research, and producing monographic works.   

Academician Isa Habibbeyli recalled the words of President Ilham Aliyev: “Our family is the Turkic world”, who declared relations with the Turkic world a priority direction. Following the direction set by the head of state, the National Academy of Sciences is further expanding cooperation with scientific institutions of Turkic countries.

Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and member of the Committee for Social and Cultural Development and Science Altynbek Nukhuly expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and spoke about the importance of expanding scientific cooperation between our countries and the prospects of scientific relations between scholars of two countries.

Afterwards, guests were presented with books as gifts, and commemorative photos were taken.

Following the meeting, the guests toured the historic building of the Presidium of ANAS and visited the big conference hall, where the First Turkology Congress was held in 1926.

The meeting was also attended by a deputy of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Islam Sunkar, staff member of the Parliament Saltanat Ayubayeva, and representative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan, Arman Beksultanov.
