Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A meeting of the Scientific Council of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS took place.

The event was opened by Academician Teymur Karimli, Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences, who familiarized the participants with the items on the agenda.

At the meeting, a scientific report and a video was presented on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the renowned literary scholar, Doctor of Philology, Professor, full member of ANAS, and People’s Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh.

The Action Plan of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences dedicated to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of People’s Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh was approved at the meeting.

It was noted that, in order to immortalize the memory of the prominent poet a scientific session and seminars will be held at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature as well as an event will be organized jointly by the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature and the House Museum of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh in Sheki.  

The Action Plan of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences for the implementation of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated March 18, 2025, on “the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences” was approved at the meeting.  

In connection with the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, some events on the following topics will be organized at the scientific institutions of the Division: “The Past, Present, and Future of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature” (Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature), “The History of Azerbaijani Linguistics” (Nasimi Institute of Linguistics). The events will also be organized at the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli, the Folklore Institute, and the Institute of Architecture and Art.

An instruction was given to the scientific institutions of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences to prepare proposals for the Action Plan on implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the “Commemoration of the 190th anniversary of Seyid Azim Shirvani.”

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated March 19, 2025, on the approval of the “Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025-2028,” it was deemed appropriate to establish a Department of Artificial Intelligence and Computational Linguistics on the basis of the existing Department of Computational Linguistics of the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of ANAS.

A task was assigned to the Institute of Architecture and Art to organize anniversary events related to the 120th anniversary of Academician Sadıg Dadashov, April 15, 2025, and April 19, the 120th anniversary of Academician Mikayıl Useynov. On April 20, 2025, the 80th anniversary of the birth of the prominent folklorist, corresponding member of ANAS Azad Nabiyev, will be celebrated. In connection with this, a decision was made to organize an event jointly by the Division of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, the Folklore Institute of ANAS, and the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University.
