The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli met with the Director of the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Irma Ratiani.
At the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, an exchange of views took place on issues of mutual interest between the two institutions, as well as on joint projects, and prospects for cooperation were discussed.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined that, as in all other fields, there are close ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the field of science as well. He emphasized the necessity of developing these relations in new directions in line with the demands of the modern era.
Touching upon Azerbaijani-Georgian scientific relations, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that ANAS closely cooperates with the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia as well as with other scientific institutions of the country. He specifically highlighted the joint project carried out by the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature and the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, which resulted in the publication of the monograph “Nizami Ganjavi and Shota Rustaveli” in Azerbaijani, Georgian, and English in Baku, Tbilisi, and Cambridge.
Professor Irma Ratiani expressed her gratitude to the President of ANAS for the warm meeting and congratulated the institution’s large staff on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Academy .
Providing information about the areas of activity of the institution she leads, Professor Irma Ratiani emphasized their interest in conducting joint research that meets the national and state interests of both countries. She highlighted the significance of the joint project “Nizami Ganjavi and Shota Rustaveli” and the importance of mutual exchange of scientific knowledge and experience.
At the end of the meeting, exchange of book gifts was held.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation of the Presidium administration of ANAS, PhD in Biology Esmira Alirzayeva, Deputy Director of the Institute of Georgian Literature, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Maka Elbakidze, and Deputy Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, PhD in Philology Mehman Hasanli.
