The “Bakhtiyar Vahabzade-100 Panel”, organized by the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS, was held in the Academy Park within the 4th Turkic World Literature and Book Festival.
The event was attended by the President of ANAS and Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, as well as staff members of the Institute of Literature, other scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS, and literature lovers.
The panel was moderated by Eshgana Babayeva, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS.
Opening the panel with an introductory speech, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the Presidential Decree dated February 21, 2025, on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade opens wide horizons for conducting deep research related to the poet’s work. He emphasized that, following the President’s decree, the Presidium of ANAS adopted a corresponding resolution, and a comprehensive action plan is currently implemented across the scientific institutions and organizations of the Academy aimed at celebrating the 100th anniversary of prominent People’s Poet at a high level.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that Bakhtiyar Vahabzade lived with the ideas of national independence and freedom and even during the Soviet era, the poet wrote the poem “Gulustan”, in which he expressed these ideas. With his courageous poem dedicated to our native language, he made a significant contribution to the development of national self-awareness. He mentioned that well-known representative of Azerbaijani literature also strived for the unity of the Turkic world, and today, the ideals he fought for have become a reality. Today the Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty have been fully restored, and the country now makes outstanding contributions to the unity of the Turkic world through its active participation in the activities of the Organization of Turkic States.
The employees of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS also delivered speeches at the “Bakhtiyar Vahabzade-100 panel”. PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Aygun Baghirli, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Vagif Yusifli, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Esmira Fuad, and Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Alizade Asgarli spoke about Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s literary work and highly praised his role in the development national thinking and the ideas of freedom.
