Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A meeting between the Nakhchivan State University (NSU) and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was held at the scientific library of the university.

The meeting was attended by Elbrus Isayev, Rector of NSU, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of ANAS, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev, Chairman of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, Huseyn Huseynov, Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS, Esmira Alirzayeva, Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and International Organizations of ANAS, as well as the university’s administrative and academic staff.

A Memorandum of Agreement on scientific cooperation was signed between ANAS and NSU during the meeting. The memorandum includes the implementation of joint research projects, the training and exchange of scientific personnel, the organization of scientific conferences, symposiums, and seminars, the experience exchange in library work and support for staff training, the exchange of scientific information, publications, and works, as well as providing free access to the electronic resources of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS for the academic staff and students of NSU. Expanding cooperation between the libraries of both institutions is also planned.

The Rector of Nakhchivan State University, Elbrus Isayev described the joint activity as a significant and successful collaboration. He congratulated Academician Isa Habibbeyli and the team of the academy on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of ANAS and wished them success in their scientific activity. He emphasized that the bilateral relations is aimed at the development of the educational environment and the expansion of scientific relations. He also mentioned that Nakhchivan State University conducts book exchanges with Baku State University, ADA University, the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, the Azerbaijan University of Languages, and other higher education institutions, highlighting the responsible role of libraries as platforms for scientific exchange.

The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and said that such collaborations would make valuable contributions to the development of science. Speaking about the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated March 18, 2025, on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the academician emphasized that this document reflects the high value placed on science, the Academy, and scientists. Academician Isa Habibbeyli also highly valued the recent scientific achievements of Nakhchivan State University, and its international cooperation relations.

The Chairman of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev underlined that Nakhchivan State University holds a special place among the country’s most advanced higher education institutions and both sides want to use their current resources to help each other and work together to expand the bilateral relations.

Huseyn Huseynov, Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS, and Khumar Mammadova, Director of the Scientific Library of NSU also spoke at the event, expressing their belief that the joint cooperation would contribute to achieving more successful and effective outcomes.

Later, Academician Isa Habibbeyli presented membership cards of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS to Rector Elbrus Isayev and Director Khumar Mammadova.

At the end of the meeting, commemorative gifts were exchanged in honor of the cooperation, and a group photo was taken.
