A scientific session titled “Javad Heyat and the Scientific Victory of Turkic Identity” was held at the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, with the joint organization of the Department of Research on Turkic-Language Manuscripts and the Department of Research on Manuscripts of the Turkic World, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous surgeon, Turkologist, and founder of the journal “Varlig”, Javad Heyat.
At the beginning, the guests viewed an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the distinguished scientist, presented in the institute’s Exhibition Hall.
Opening the session with an introductory speech, which took place in the Assembly Hall of the institute, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the life and activity of the prominent Turkologist Javad Heyat. He said that Javad Heyat made a valuable contribution to the development of Turkology, medicine, and other fields. The journal “Varlig” made Javad Heyat well known as a specialist in the field of humanities. Saying that National Leader Heydar Aliyev always highly appreciated his multifaceted activity and personality, the head of ANAS emphasized that Javad Heyat, who made a significant contribution to the development of national consciousness and set an example for Azerbaijani science with his work, will always live in the memory of the people.
In his speech, the Director of the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, Academician Teymur Karimli spoke about the multifaceted activity of Javad Heyat, the research he conducted in the fields of literary studies, literary criticism, the history of journalism, and philosophy. He said that Javad Heyat dedicated all his life to surgery and scientific research, and his services in the field of surgery, in helping our people understand their national-cultural identity, as well as in promoting Azerbaijanism and Turkism are undeniable.
At the event, the Director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan, Academician Nizami Jafarov, Adviser of ANAS, Academician Mohsun Nagisoylu, Deputy Director for scientific work of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, Doctor of History Eynulla Madatli, Head of the Department of Research on Printed Books of the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, Doctor of History, Associate Professor Tahira Hasanzade and Deputy Director for scientific work of the institute, Head of the Department of Translation of Manuscripts and Ancient Printed Books, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Akram Bagirov gave reports about prominent scientist Javad Heyat.
The guests of the event, Dr. Robert Bagir Heyat, an immigrant writer, translator, and publicist of Türkiye, member of the German Writers’ Association Dr. Orhan Aras and Dr. Nadir Heyat shared their memories of Javad Heyat in their speeches. They expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of ANAS and the Institute of Manuscripts for organizing such an event, as well as to everyone who contributed to this work.
At the end, a commemorative photo of the guests was taken in the institute’s exhibition hall.
After the event, the participants visited the grave of the prominent surgeon to honor his memory and laid flowers at his tomb.
