On June 26, a solemn event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was held at the Ankara University in Türkiye.

The event, organized at the initiative of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and with the support of Ankara University, was attended by a delegation led by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, as well as representatives of various international and local institutions and organizations, higher education institutions, diplomats, and scientists.

Opening the event, the Rector of Ankara University, Professor Necdet Unuvar, reminded that an honorary doctorate title had once been awarded to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in this educational institution.

Emphasizing that the cooperation between the two brotherly countries successfully continues in the fields of science and education as well, the Rector expressed his gratitude to the leadership of ANAS for its contribution to this process.

“Our cooperation in the fields of science and education is successfully continuing in the spirit of the saying ‘One nation, two states.’ The successful policies of our leaders, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, illuminate our path. I wish for our countries to remain united always and to be at the top,” said N. Unuvar, who also mentioned the dual diploma program as an example of successful cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned in his speech that since its establishment, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has followed a path rich with achievements.

“This event holds great importance within the framework of the implementation of the Order of the President of Azerbaijan on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. For the first time, our anniversary event is being celebrated outside our country, in brotherly Türkiye. This step serves to strengthen our brotherhood and solidarity. The expression ‘One nation, two states,’ by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, is proof of the unity demonstrated by Türkiye and Azerbaijan to the world together, and of the unbreakable unity of the Turkic world countries,” the academician emphasized.

Speaking about the attention and care of National Leader Heydar Aliyev for Azerbaijani science, Isa Habibbeyli underlined, “The renaissance period of Azerbaijani science is directly connected to the course set by the Great Leader. The policy of Heydar Aliyev also served the brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.”

The academician said that the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has actively participated in the successful implementation of state policy in the field of science. He also expressed that through social and humanitarian research, the Academy has contributed to society’s acquisition of new knowledge and the enhancement of its scientific and cultural level.

The President of ANAS emphasized that Azerbaijan and Türkiye demonstrate unity and solidarity not only in domestic politics and bilateral relations but also on the international stage.

The academician expressed confidence that the event would make a significant contribution to further strengthening cooperation with scientific and educational institutions of Türkiye and to the formation of new joint projects.

Referring to the statement made by President Ilham Aliyev during his inauguration ceremony, “We have no other family. Our family is the Turkic world,” the scientist noted that Azerbaijan has entered a new stage in the development of the science of Turkology, which has rich traditions, and in its relations with the Turkic world.

Professor Muzaffer Şeker, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, also highlighted the unity between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

“We witnessed and felt the support of brotherly Azerbaijan also in the restoration of the earthquake-affected region. We once again thank the Azerbaijani people and President Ilham Aliyev personally,” said the head of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, noting that the Turkish people also support Azerbaijan in all fields.

Later, the President of ANAS, Isa Habibbeyli, was presented with an honorary doctorate diploma from the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
