In his speech at the meeting, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that in recent years, Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership thanks to the efforts of President Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He noted that today there are close ties between the two brotherly countries in all fields, including science.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized that at the foundation of these relations lies the fact that the prominent Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi considered Nizami Ganjavi his master, while Muhammad Fuzuli referred to Navoi as his teacher.

The head of ANAS also mentioned that during the Karabakh war, Uzbekistan always supported Azerbaijan and that the brotherly country built a secondary school in Fuzuli named after Mirza Ulugbek. He emphasized that a major conference dedicated to the 630th anniversary of Mirza Ulugbek was held at that school with the participation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan and the leadership of ANAS.

Today, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has close ties with many scientific institutions, primarily with the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences and Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature-he added.

Further, Umud Mirzayev, President at International Eurasia Press Fund expressed his gratitude to the Academy leadership for their hospitality and emphasized that Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations today are at the highest level in economic, political, scientific, literary, cultural, and other fields.
