A presentation ceremony for the books “Mahammad Fuzuli: Bibliography” and “Mahammad Fuzuli: Life and Work,” dedicated to the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli, was held at the National Library of Azerbaijan.

The event, jointly organized by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the Azerbaijan National Library was attended by members of parliament, intellectuals, literary scholars, employees of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, media representatives, and other guests.

Professor Karim Tahirov, Director of the Azerbaijan National Library, provided information about the publications presented to the scientific community and emphasized that these books are valuable contributions to Fuzuli studies.

In his speech, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned that the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on celebrating the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Mahammad Fuzuli has made it possible to re-examine the poet’s legacy in the context of Azerbaijanism and the Turkic world.

The academician recalled that the 10th Baku International Book Fair, which was held last year at the Expo Center, was dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the great master of words, Mahammad Fuzuli. At the fair, the genius poet was once again presented to world publishers, writers, and all participants in the light of independence. “At the 10th Baku International Book Fair, 10 publications prepared by the Fuzuli Studies Department of the Institute of Literature were presented. These books, from the ‘Fuzuli Library’ series, were declared winners in the ‘Best Book’ category by the Ministry of Culture.”

“One of the most significant publications dedicated to Mahammad Fuzuli this year is the fundamental monograph entitled “Mahammad Fuzuli: Bibliography”, prepared by the Azerbaijan National Library,”-said Academician Isa Habibbeyli, noting that this book is the most comprehensive and generalizing resource, published during the period of independence, that thoroughly presents Fuzuli’s works.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the fundamental publication “Mahammad Fuzuli: Bibliography”, presented to the public, includes nearly 7,000 important sources about the great poet. Emphasizing that the bibliography presents Mahammad Fuzuli to readers from all aspects, with scientific accuracy and a perfect classification, the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences highly praised the publication, describing it as a significant contribution to global Fuzuli studies.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli also provided information about the book Mahammad Fuzuli: Life and Work, prepared by the Fuzuli Studies Department of the Institute of Literature, stating that this book is the first comprehensive and large-scale scientific work written about the great poet. In the monograph, which consists of 11 chapters, Fuzuli’s era, the environment in which he lived, and his life are studied in a systematic and thorough way.

The head of ANAS noted that the publication comprehensively studies the linguistic and stylistic features, poetics, folklore sources, predecessors, contemporaries, and successors of Fuzuli’s art. A separate chapter of the monograph is dedicated to the study of Fuzuli’s legacy in world literary studies and the translation of his works into other languages.

At the event, Academician Nizami Jafarov, Director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan, Member of Parliament, Doctor of Philology, Professor Jala Aliyeva, Member of Parliament, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Elnara Akimova, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, chief researcher at the Institute of Literature, Professor Ataemi Mirzayev, head of the Fuzuli Studies Department of the same institute, Professor Farida Azizova, head of a department, Associate Professor Zakulla Bayramli, leading researcher at the Institute of Literature and PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Knyaz Aslan, head of the Department of Book Studies and Publishing at Baku State University and Aynur Mahmudova, head of the Human Resources Department of the Presidium administarion of ANAS and PhD in Philology, delivered speeches. They spoke about the scientific significance of the presented books and expressed their gratitude to the authors.

It should be noted that the head of the project and author of the foreword of the book “Mahammad Fuzuli: Life and Work” is Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of ANAS and Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, and its scientific editor is Doctor of Philology Ataemi Mirzayev.

The compiler of the book “Mahammad Fuzuli: Bibliography” is Honored Cultural Worker and PhD in History Adiba Ismayilova, its scientific editor is Professor Karim Tahirov, and the author of the foreword is Academician Teymur Karimli.
