Academician Isa Habibbayli met with Professor Hayrettin Ivgin, Chairman of the Board of the World Academy of Words

On September 12, ANAS President and Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbayli, met with Professor Hayrettin Ivgin, Chairman of the Board of the World Academy of Words.

During the meeting at the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbayli welcomed the guest and spoke about the fraternal and friendly relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan. He emphasized that both countries have great thinkers and that it is crucial for our societies to recognize these distinguished figures:

“In Azerbaijan, almost everyone is familiar with Dede Korkut and Yunus Emre. However, knowledge about poets and thinkers who lived and created after the 16th–17th centuries is limited. Similarly, in Turkey, information about our classical and contemporary writers is scarce. To address this, joint textbooks should be developed. An increase in researchers like Turkish literary scholar, writer, and professor Yavuz Akpınar, who deeply know and understand Azerbaijan, would contribute significantly to the development of our societies.”

Subsequently, Professor Hayrettin Ivgin, Chairman of the Board of the World Academy of Words, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, emphasizing its significance and the importance of continuing such interactions in the future. He presented books and journals published in Turkey to the President of ANAS. The journals included articles on Azerbaijani literature and the activities of Azerbaijani scholars.

Hayrettin Ivgin, with the joint proposal of Turkish literary scholars, suggested implementing collaborative project programs between the Institute of Literature of ANAS and the literary schools of Turkey and Azerbaijan in honor of the poets of both countries. He noted that such initiatives are essential for the two fraternal states to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s literary traditions.

Following this, a discussion on potential cooperation took place, and reciprocal gifts were exchanged.

The meeting was also attended by İbrahim Sadiq, former Mayor of Vezirköprü Municipality in Samsun, Turkey; Academician Teymur Karimli, Director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli; Agahuseyn Shukurov, PhD in Philology and Head of the Public Relations, Press, and Information Department of the Apparatus of the ANAS Presidium; Mehman Hasanli, PhD in Philology and Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi; and Professor Vuqar Ahmad, Head of Department at the same institute.
