Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, met with Taha Jamil Savar, Pro Rector of Northern University of Pakistan.

During the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan has been developing at a high level in all areas, including science. The President of ANAS stated that the Pakistan Literature Center is currently operating at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS. He noted that the Center houses publications related to Pakistan in Azerbaijani, Urdu, and English, and that these resources are used by researchers conducting studies on Pakistan and preparing articles and dissertations.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that Azerbaijani scholars organize joint conferences and projects with Pakistani academic institutions and produce publications. He emphasized that in recent years, relations between ANAS and the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Government College University Lahore, and the MUSLIM Institute have expanded. He noted that the works of prominent Pakistani literary figure Muhammad Iqbal had been translated from Urdu into Azerbaijani and published in book form, and that a monograph dedicated to his literary legacy had also been prepared. He also stated that the works of Sultan Bahu, one of the classics of Pakistani literature, had recently been translated into Azerbaijani and would be published in the coming days.

The President of ANAS touched upon the importance of presenting the legacy of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi to the Pakistani public and noted that, within the framework of a joint project between ANAS and Government College University Lahore, a book dedicated to the works of Nizami Ganjavi had been published in Urdu in Pakistan and presented in Punjab Province.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli also noted that academic exchanges are being carried out between Azerbaijani scholars and Pakistani researchers, and that researchers from Government College University Lahore conduct scientific research at ANAS.

Speaking at the meeting, Taha Jamil Savar, Pro Rector of Northern University, provided information about the activities of the higher education institution he represents. He noted that the university offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in various fields, including English and Urdu languages, as well as artificial intelligence.

Taha Jamil Savar stated that the university is interested in establishing cooperation in the study of the Azerbaijani language and literature. He also proposed establishing a center dedicated to Azerbaijan at the university. According to him, collecting books and publications related to Azerbaijan at such a center could help convey information about Azerbaijan to the Pakistani public, students, and researchers, and further strengthen scientific and cultural ties between the two countries.

The meeting also addressed issues of cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. Taha Jamil Savar provided information about research conducted in the field of artificial intelligence at the university he represents, the activities of the relevant department and research center, as well as the capabilities of its data center.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the Digital Academy, Artificial Intelligence and E-Services Center is also operating at ANAS and emphasized the importance of mutual exchange of experience in this field.

During the meeting, Taha Jamil Savar stated that international scientific conferences on language and literature, as well as artificial intelligence, are held annually at Northern University and invited Azerbaijani scholars to participate in these events.

The parties agreed to organize mutual visits within the framework of future scientific events.

At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Northern University.

Afterwards, a gift was presented to the guest, and a commemorative photograph was taken.

At the end of the visit, Taha Jamil Savar toured the Digital Academy, Artificial Intelligence and E-Services Center operating on the basis of the Digital Academy, Artificial Intelligence and E-Services Department of the Administration of the Presidium of ANAS.

The meeting was also attended by Esmira Alirzayeva, Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and Cooperation with International Scientific Organizations of the Administration of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Biology, and Agahuseyn Shukurov, Head of the Department of Public Relations, Press, and Information of the Administration of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Philology.
