On October 2, within the framework of the 11th Baku International Book Fair, a signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation between several scientific institutions of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco was held.
The event was attended by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Mohammed Adil Embarch; Director of the National Library of Turkey, Ayhan Tuğlu; Director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, Samira El Malizi; Director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS, Academician Teymur Karimli; Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS, Doctor of Technical Sciences Huseyn Huseynov; Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and International Scientific Organizations of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor Esmira Alirzayeva; Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Karim Tahirov, as well as other officials.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Professor Karim Tahirov, Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation to be signed today would create wide opportunities for the library’s readers, particularly for Azerbaijani scholars and orientalists, in their future research activities.
Addressing the ceremony, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli, noted that the 11th Baku International Book Fair contributes to the expansion of international relations of the country’s scientific institutions. He highlighted that cooperation with the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, which possesses a rich book collection, will open a new chapter in the future development of the libraries of Azerbaijan. He also stressed that this partnership will play a significant role in studying and promoting at the international level the historical manuscript copies preserved at the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS.
In her speech, Director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, Samira El Malizi, greeted the participants and expressed her gratitude to Academician Isa Habibbayli, Professor Karim Tahirov, and Ambassador Mohammed Adil Embarch for their support in the signing of the memorandum of cooperation.
Following the speeches, the memoranda of cooperation were signed. First, a trilateral memorandum was signed between the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS, the National Library of Azerbaijan, and the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco. Subsequently, a bilateral memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Central Scientific Library of ANAS and the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco.
These documents will serve as a foundation for expanding mutual relations between the institutions and for facilitating the exchange of books and information resources.
At the end of the ceremony, the participants took commemorative photographs.
