The solution to existing problems in such areas as “green energy,” “food security,” “bio- and ecological safety,” and “a healthy environment” can be achieved not only through technology and capital but also through knowledge and scientific integration.

These remarks were made by Vice-President of ANAS and Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Academician Irada Huseynova, at the international conference titled “Challenges in the Fields of Energy, Food, Environment, and Climate Security” held in Baku on October 15.

Academician Irada Huseynova noted that the main goal of the conference is to develop strategic plans for scientific partnership, identify future research directions, share innovative solutions that contribute to the transition to “green energy” and a clean environment, and foster the emergence of new scientific ideas ensuring the resilience of society and the economy.

“The ideas voiced and the results presented here will promote international cooperation, the creation of joint projects, and the establishment of regional innovation centers. Science carries not only technological but also moral value. Finding solutions in the fields of biological, energy, food, and climate security represents the highest scientific mission serving humanity,” the scientist emphasized.

The ANAS Vice-President also pointed out that one of the key highlights of the conference program is the traditional “Jalal Aliyev Readings” dedicated to the memory of the great scientist and public figure, Academician Jalal Aliyev. She stressed that the “Jalal Aliyev Readings” would further enhance the scientific and moral significance of this international event.

Emphasizing that the conference is also dedicated to the 80th anniversary of ANAS — an important milestone in the history of Azerbaijani science — Academician Irada Huseynova stated that the high-level celebration of this anniversary once again confirms the invaluable role of ANAS in the organization, management, and advancement of science in the country, as well as in the development of national intellectual potential.

Academician Irada Huseynova noted that the international conference, attended by more than 140 authors of presentations from 14 countries, has become an important platform for global scientific collaboration:

“If we wish to move confidently toward a green future, it is essential to unite scientists, engineers, agrarian and biomedical specialists working in a multidisciplinary environment as a single scientific team.”

The Vice-President drew attention to the fact that studies conducted in different countries demonstrate the growing importance of artificial intelligence, machine learning, bioinformatics, synthetic biology, and nanotechnologies in ensuring energy, food, and climate stability.

She also spoke about the significant scientific and practical achievements recently attained in Azerbaijan in the fields of bioeconomy, “green technologies,” and biotechnological research with the support of the state. According to her, the “green zone” model established in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur has attracted international interest as a unique approach to ensuring energy and environmental security. Currently, across the country, new methodological approaches based on artificial intelligence are being developed in agri-biotechnology, soil and water resource management, and climate modeling.

Expressing confidence that the conference would become an important stage for scientific exchange, new partnerships, and sustainable development, Academician Irada Huseynova wished all participants fruitful discussions and new scientific achievements.
