At the meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician-secretary of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov, reported on the outcomes of his participation in the consultative meeting of the International Science Council (ISC) held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.
He stated that the meeting took place in Tashkent on October 9–11, 2025, within the framework of the “International Week of Innovative Ideas,” jointly organized by the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to Academician Hashimov, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss shared interests concerning the ISC’s strategy and priorities for 2025–2028 in the context of the regional agenda.
During the plenary session, Arif Hashimov delivered a presentation on the sustainable development policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He provided information about the measures implemented in this direction, the strategic documents adopted, and the decrees signed by the Head of State.
In the second session of the consultative meeting, Academician Hashimov gave a presentation highlighting the history of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, its international cooperation policy, and the relationship established with the ISC.
At the final session of the consultative meeting held on October 11, 2025, discussions focused on scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and prospects for future collaboration. It was emphasized that the peoples of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are united by bonds of friendship, common history, and shared cultural and spiritual values. These ties are also dynamically developing in the scientific field. Special attention during the discussions was given to the initiative of establishing the Transcaucasia–Central Asia Regional Center of the International Science Council. The Azerbaijani side supported the idea of establishing this center in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to its activities.
Academician Arif Hashimov noted that the ISC consultative meeting in Tashkent holds significant importance for expanding scientific relations among regional countries, strengthening international cooperation networks, and shaping joint scientific strategies. He added that ANAS’s participation in this event contributes to the advancement of Azerbaijan’s science diplomacy, its integration into the global scientific community, and the development of joint regional initiatives.
