Meeting Dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of ANAS Continued with a Session at the Presidium

The meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) continued with a session at the Presidium of ANAS on November 4.

The event was attended by ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbayli, members of the Presidium, as well as heads and representatives of the academies of sciences and international scientific institutions from Türkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, China, Vietnam, Italy, Bulgaria, and Montenegro.

Academician Isa Habibbayli noted that President Ilham Aliyev delivered a profound and conceptual speech at the meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of ANAS, in which the Head of State highly appreciated the Academy’s activities and outlined its future objectives. Habibbayli emphasized that the President’s instructions represent a roadmap for the Academy’s future work and that all subsequent activities should be built upon this foundation.

On behalf of Azerbaijani scholars and intellectuals, the ANAS community, and international participants, Academician Isa Habibbayli expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, the Leader of the Victorious Nation, for attending the event and delivering a substantive address.

“We would like to assure our Head of State that the ANAS community will work with all their strength to fulfill the tasks set forth by the President,” the ANAS President stressed.

Academician Habibbayli added that the participation of 42 scientists from 21 countries will contribute to the development of ANAS’s international relations and help establish and strengthen new partnerships.

The event also featured speeches by Professor Derya Örs, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History (Türkiye); Academician Asaf Hajiyev, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC); Sultan Raev, Secretary General of TURKSOY; Academician Shakhin Mustafayev, President of the International Turkic Academy; Academician Roin Metreveli, President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences; Professor Necdet Ünüvar, Rector of Ankara University; Professor Evelina Slavcheva, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Professor Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev, President of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA); Academician Allaberdi Ashirov, President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan; Corresponding Member Kanatbek Abdrahmatov, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic; Professor Roberto Zelli, member of the Italian National Academy of Sciences; Professor Masud Efendiyev, Chairman of the Board of the World Association of Azerbaijani Scientists; and Ebru Caymaz, member of the Standing Committee for Humanities and Social Sciences of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research. They congratulated the ANAS community and Azerbaijani scholars, discussed prospects for cooperation, and presented commemorative gifts.

In addition, congratulatory video messages from Professor Kate Darian-Smith, President of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and Professor Najeeba Arif, President of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, were presented.

Later, Academician Isa Habibbayli read congratulatory letters addressed to ANAS on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.

The event concluded with the taking of commemorative photos.
