Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

"Gold Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan on behalf of Nizami Ganjavi" were awarded the world famous Azerbaijani scientist Lutfi Zadeh (Lutfi Rahim oglu Alasgarzadeh) and Academician Boyukkishi Aga oglu Agayev. The medal will be awarded Lutfi Zadeh for exceptional achievements in the creation and development of the theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, and Academician Boyukkishi Agayev - for merits in development of medical science in Azerbaijan, achievements in the improvement and application of reconstructive and restorative operations in the treatment of liver disease, biliary tract, and pancreas, as well as services in the preparation of the three-volume "Atlas of Surgery."

Decision was adopted on April 20 in a meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. At the event were announced the results of competition for the "Gold Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan on behalf of Nizami Ganjavi", adopted a decision on awarding the Medal of the above scientists and handing them cash prize in the amount of 10 thousand manats.

In his speech, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that the right of awarding the medal was given to the above-mentioned Decree of the President of the Academy on June 27, 2014. It was noted that the idea of the scientists, whose candidacy was nominated for participation in the competition, and the relevant documents were presented to the Expert Committee. At the final meeting of the commission, this year's candidates for the gold medal were elected, and then appropriate responses were submitted to the Presidium.
