President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, met with the Rector of Ardahan University, Prof. Dr. Ozturk Emiroglu.
During the meeting, Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized that the friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey, rooted in deep historical ties, have today acquired a multifaceted character. He noted that these relations are based on historically formed shared values, cultural affinity, and mutual trust, and continue to develop dynamically across all fields, particularly in science and education. Academician Isa Habibbeyli stated that ANAS currently maintains close cooperation with academic institutions of the brotherly country, including The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Ataturk Culture, Language and History High Institution, and the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), as well as with numerous higher education institutions.
Providing information about the activities of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the Academy has a rich and distinguished history. He подчеркнул that since its establishment, ANAS has played a leading role in the development of science in the country and continues to successfully fulfill this mission today.
Speaking about the current directions of scientific research conducted at ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli stressed that special attention is being paid to the application of new technologies in line with the demands of the modern era. He highlighted the expansion of research in the field of artificial intelligence and the implementation of innovative projects in this area. According to him, the integration of artificial intelligence into the humanities and social sciences is considered one of the priority направления.
In his remarks, Rector of Ardahan University Ozturk Emiroglu provided detailed information about the activities, development strategy, and international relations of the institution he leads. He noted that one of the main goals of the university is to expand international cooperation and increase the number of joint scientific projects.
Ozturk Emiroglu also stated that scholars from his university show particular interest in researching historical materials related to Ardahan in the archives of the South Caucasus region. He подчеркнул that such studies could make a significant contribution to a deeper understanding of the region’s historical past and to uncovering shared cultural heritage. The rector noted that cooperation with ANAS in this area would be especially important.
During the meeting, the issue of signing a memorandum of mutual cooperation between the parties in the near future was also discussed in detail. It was noted that within the framework of this agreement, joint research in history, archaeology, literature, and other fields of the humanities and social sciences, as well as the organization of scientific conferences and preparation of joint publications, are envisaged. Participation of young researchers and doctoral students in exchange programs is also planned.
Following the speeches, mutual gifts were presented and commemorative photos were taken.
At the end, members of the delegation led by Prof. Dr. Ozturk Emiroglu visited the Presidium building of ANAS, toured the Grand Hall where the First Turkological Congress was held, as well as the meeting hall. The guests were provided with detailed information about the history of the building.
