The President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbayli, participated in the international scientific conference titled “Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Period of the Revival of a New Epoch of a Powerful State,” dedicated to the Science Day of Turkmenistan, held in the city of Ashgabat.
The event, organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, brought together representatives of science and government institutions of Turkmenistan, as well as heads and delegations of scientific institutions from Türkiye, China, Russia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Japan, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Belarus and other countries, who delivered presentations.
At the official opening ceremony of the conference, a congratulatory letter from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, addressed to the participants, was read out.
At the plenary session of the event, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli, delivered a presentation titled “Scientific Relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the Context of the First Turkological Congress.” The presentation highlighted the active participation of representatives from brotherly Turkmenistan in the First Turkological Congress, held in 1926 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, which was dedicated to the comprehensive study of the language, literature, culture and social thought of Turkic peoples sharing common historical roots, as well as their support for the transition to a unified Latin alphabet.
It was also emphasized that the mutual visits of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, the official meetings held, and the documents signed demonstrate the continuously expanding scope of relations in the modern period. In this context, the importance of scientific events—particularly research conducted in Azerbaijan on the literary heritage of the prominent representative of Turkmen literature, Magtymguly Pyragy, published books, and the Magtymguly Pyragy Center operating at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of ANAS—in the development of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan scientific relations was highlighted.
At the same time, it was noted that research conducted by Turkmen scholars on the life and works of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, as well as the translation and publication of his works into the Turkmen language, make a significant contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.
The event continued with sessions dedicated to the humanities, natural sciences, information and computer technologies, nanotechnologies, innovative economy, agriculture, ecology, medicine and other scientific fields.
Within the framework of the visit, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan and paid tribute at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
