Collaboration ties between Azerbaijan and India discussed

Today was held a meeting with an Indian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan – Sanjay Rana at the Presidium of ANAS.

The aim was to discuss collaborative perspectives between two countries in science, including exchange views on establishing joint research laboratories.

President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh greeted the guest and noted that Azerbaijan and India are closely collaborating in various fields since ancient times. Making speech on establishment history, priorities, and innovative projects of ANAS, operated for 70 years by contributing to the country’s science, scientist highlighted this organization as a residence of Azerbaijan science. He also highly appreciated studies carried out in India in the various priority spheres and obtained results.

Academician brought to mind development of information and communication technologies all over the world in a modern era, enough experience of Indian scientists in this area. Emphasizing significant progress in India in the field of programming A.Alizadeh noted the exchange of experiences between the two countries, and the need for training of highly qualified personnel in this area.

Academician Akif Alizadeh informed the guest about Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, the implementation of significant projects on ICT in this organization, conduction of the scientific research in priority directions. He invited Indian scientists to participate in joint projects to the Institute. The establishment of joint research laboratories in related fields are important issues, he stressed.

Then, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India Sanjay Rana said that, ANAS has invaluable contributions to the development of the Azerbaijan science. He expressed his confidence that, both countries, having common culture and long-termed collaboration ties would continue these relation in future in the field of science. Ambassador also mentioned about Ateshgah temple, which was built in the village near the city of Baku, Surakhani, as a proof of existence Azerbaijan-India relations since ancient times. He also drew attention to the business relations between the two countries, India's investments to the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil field, as well as the exploitation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines. S.Rana stressed out the active participation of Indian companies in lining pipes of Shah Deniz-2 project.

Informing about conference "Heart of Asia" to be held in the near future, the guest noted that Azerbaijan is one of the 14 participating countries. He invited our country to participate at the event and contribute.

In closing, A.Alizadeh donated the Ambassador the memorial gifts reflecting multi-faceted activity of ANAS.
