Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Regional computer networks of Azerbaijan and Belarus on science and education have joined the GEANT network, allowing scientists and students of both countries to cooperate and to exchange with peers from around the world.

Official web-site of European Commission ec.europa.eu reports that, EaPConnect aims to create a world-class regional computer network of science and education in the Eastern Partnership region. In accordance with the European neighborhood policy, EaPConect boosts to expand mutual cooperation and economic development for the European Union and its partners.

According to the Director of the Institute of Information Technology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Rasim Alguliyev, this collaboration creates new opportunities for integration of Azerbaijan scientific community into the European research environment: "We are working together to solve the upcoming problems. I hope EaPConnect project will lead to positive changes in the region".

Steve Cotter, Director General of GEANT, added that the cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan expands the capabilities of our network even more. Network paves the way for acquisition of research capabilities and new achievements in climate change, seismology, high energy physics and e-science spheres, including expansion of scientific cooperation.

The web-site also informs about EapPEC conference, which was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, October 6-7, 2016. It was noted that the conference participants were submitted to the new cooperation platform.
