Deputy Director for Research of the Institute Genetic Resources (IGR) of ANAS, PhD in biology Mehraj Abbasov was a five-day scientific mission to Mexico, Mexico.

At the seminar held by the international organization CİMMYT on the subject "Genomics for genebanks", along with such international structures as İCARDA, İRR İ, İCRİSAT, attended by 48 scientists working with genomes and molecular markers and experts from Azerbaijan, the USA, Great Britain, China, France, the Czech Republic and many other countries.

At the seminar M.Abbasov spoke on "Genotipizatsiya Plant Genetic Resources of Azerbaijan". It was reported that, at the IGR of ANAS genotipization of plants by molecular markers started in 2007, and the results have been published in numerous international articles.

Since 2013, a wthin pilot project of Science Development Foundation under the President of of the Azerbaijan Republic with the aim of conducting research on the genome level and training of qualified personnel in our country as part of the Department of Biotechnology IGR was created Genomics Laboratory and installed a new generation sequencers.

The scientists noted that, studies conducted on the genome level are important for genebank and breeding. At the event, were presented new methods, and the results of some studies.

Note that, the part of international organizations was highly appreciated the work of storage of genetic resources of Azerbaijan, their use in the selection and study with the use of modern technologies.

At the seminar with representatives of the United States, China, France and the Czech Republic were held discussions with a view to strengthening research at the genome level the development of new methods and joint participation in international projects.
