Every year on the South Pole of Mars there is a cover, similar to snow. The American researchers from NASA have studied this snow which differs that on Earth, not only appearance, but also the structure.
The atmosphere of the planet very dry because of a large amount of dust, respectively, the main ingredient as a part of snow is a carbon dioxide. Snow cover appears when in winter nights temperature on Mars reaches-128 ºС (average temperature-40 ºС), by lowering on the surface of the frozen carbon dioxide. To specialists of NASA the data obtained from landing Viking modules have helped to draw these conclusions. Devices measured as well density of clouds, sending results to Earth.
