Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) in Ankara organized a commemoration ceremony on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of a prominent representative of Azerbaijani poetry of the 18th century, a well-known poet, prominent politician and statesman in connection with the announcement of 2017 "The Year of Mollah Panah Vagif".

Officials, diplomats, the famous representatives of the public of Ankara, scientists and cultures, fans of poetry and others participated in the action which took place in TÜRKSOY headquarters with joint organizational support to the International organization of Turkic culture, the Ministries of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and Azerbaijan, National library of Azerbaijan, the International fund of Turkic culture and heritage.

At first the official representative of TÜRKSOY Azerbaijan in Elchin Gafarli informed about "Year of Mollah Panah Vagif" and the ceremonies organized on this case.

After the performance of the song written to Vagif's poem "Zhuravli" at the radio of Ankara TRT, an exhibition of Vagif's works was opened, as well as works written about him and works translated into other languages.

The secretary general of TÜRKSOY Dyusen Kaseinov, the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Vagif Aliyev, the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Ankara Faig Bagirov, the president of the International fund of Turkic culture and heritage Gyunay Efendiyeva and the deputy minister of culture and tourism of Turkey Nihat Gül have made a speech at the official opening ceremony.

In performances was narrated about poetic creativity Panakh Vagif's Malls, about his diplomatic efforts, achievements in public affairs and other factors. Acted expressed confidence that the attention paid to historic figures of the Turkic people, promotion of life and activities of prominent writers promotes a bigger strengthening of ties between the Turkic-speaking countries.

D. Kaseinov and N. Gül told about value of the projects performed by TÜRKSOY, and the forthcoming tasks. It was noted that the attention paid to creativity and the identity of one of the brightest representatives of literature of the Turkic world Panakh Vagif's Malls is an indicator of respect for Turkic-speaking writers.

The First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Vagif Aliyev, the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Ankara Faig Bagirov noted that they in our country always with great respect treat the personality and M. P. Vagif's creativity. Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Director of the Nizami Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Director of the National Library Kerim Tairov, deputy chairman of the Writers' Union of Eurasia, poet Ali Akbash, official representative of Kazakhstan in TURKSOY, associate professor Askar Turganbaev and associate professor Yildiz Ismailova shared their views on Various directions of Molla Panah Vagif's creative work.

Speaking about the separate directions of Molla Panah Vagif's creativity, academician Isa Habibbeyli and Professor Kerim Tahirov noted that Vagif's poetry is the pearl of literature expressing the people's spirit and adherence to history, their roots and moral values, and also protecting our native language from external influences. In the National Academy of Sciences and the Azerbaijan National Library there is a rich book fund covering Vagif's work. Popularization of these works in the Turkic world, as well as inclusion in the list of world literature is one of the important tasks.

The actress of the Irevan Azerbaijan State Drama Theater Zulfiya Ismailova read Vagif's verses.

Then the Turkish ashug Selahattin Dundar performed excerpts from Vagif's verses on the saz.
