Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On April 11, Yagub Mahmudov, the director of the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS, met with teachers and pupils of secondary school number 87 of Surakhani district of Baku at the Institute of History named after A.A. Bakikhanov.

At the meeting Yagub Mahmudov spoke about the history of statehood and historical figures of Azerbaijan. The scientist noted that Azerbaijan, which grew historical personalities of the world scale, has a 5-thousand-year history of statehood: "The Azerbaijani people created large medieval states - the Eldanizs, Garagoyunlus, Aggoyunlus, Safavids, Afshars, Gajars and managed neighboring nations."

Noting that today Armenia is trying to falsify history and appropriate the culture of Azerbaijan, Y. Mahmudov urged students to pay great attention to our history and national values.

The scientists noted that the institute he leads in accordance with the appeals, instructions and recommendations of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, carrying out scientific research, is combating the information policy of Armenia.

In conclusion, were responded students’ questions and publications of the institute presented to them.

It should be noted that scientific and practical conferences on the topics "Heydar Aliyev" were held in various secondary schools, educational complexes and lyceums of Baku in the framework of the project "Let's posses our historical persons" in the secondary school No. 10 in Sheki. , "Shah Ismail Safavid, "Shah Tahmasib Safavid", "Shah Abbas Safavid", "Nadir Shah Afshar", "Agha Muhammad Shah Gajar", "Brave woman-ruler -Tomiris", "Haji Celebi Khan".
