Today, JO25l a giant asteroid passes maximum distance to the Earth.

Deputy Director of ANAS Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory after Nasreddin Tusi, PhD in Physics Khidir Mikailov said that, for the first time, the asteroid was discovered in 2014. The cosmic body in Azerbaijan can be seen tonight until 01:00.

According to the scientist, the nearest distance of an asteroid, the extent of which is equal to 1.5 km, will be 1.76 million kilometers: "only through a telescope will be possible to observe the JO25, since its brightness is 100 times duller than that of an ordinary star."

The scientist noted that, the next closer celestial body to Earth is expected after 500 years.
