May 28, marks the 70th anniversary of one of the brightest representatives of modern Azerbaijani music culture, the well-known composer, Honored Art Worker, chairman of the Composers’ Union of Azerbaijan, People's Artiste, correspondent member of ANAS Firangiz Aliagha gizi Alizadeh.

Firangiz Alizadeh was born May 28, 1947 in Baku to a family of intellectuals. The first musical education was given at a special secondary music school for gifted children (at the Bulbul secondary specialized music school) at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. Then she continued her music education in piano and composition specialties at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov (the modern Baku Music Academy). She graduated with honors from the conservatoire in piano classes (1970, class of professor Urfan Khalilov) and composition (1972, class of Professor Gara Garaev). Working as an assistant to Gara Garayev in 1972-1974, F. Alizadeh began to engage in independent educational activities in the Azerbaijan State Conservatory since 1974.

Creativity of F. Alizadeh is multifaceted. She has exceptional merits as a pianist, composer, music teacher, public figure, and propagandist. She created valuable works in various genres of music. Works of the composer sounded in various countries of the world, the most magnificent concert halls and theatrical stages, won success among thousands of listeners and spectators, and also took their place in the repertoire of world-famous performers.

The ballets of the composer "Waiting", "Your name is Deniz", "The boy on a white horse", "The empty cradle", "Stadt-Graniza", personifying moral qualities, compositions "Habilsayaghi", "Oasis", "Dervish", "Absheron" - compositions written for concerts "Silk road", "Mercier", etc., and today they sound on majestic concert stages and decorate the repertoires of famous musicians.

In 1974, she was elected a member of the Composers’ Union of the USSR and Azerbaijan, since 1979 she continued her work as secretary of the Board of the Composers’ Union of Azerbaijan. Since 2007 he has been chairman of the Azerbaijan Composers' Union.

In 1994 she was awarded the degree of Ph.D of Arts, and in 1998 - the academic title of Professor. In 2017 she was elected a corresponding member of ANAS.

F. Alizadeh - an outstanding musician, who played an important role in the musical and public life of the republic. She realizes the effective work of the art director of the 1st and 2nd International Music Festival "The World of Mugham", implemented under the leadership of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the 1st and the 2nd International Silk Road Music Festival, which is held on the basis of the project of the Azerbaijan Composers’ Union, editor-in-chief and coordinator of the project "World of Uzeir."

The activity of the composer was highly appreciated by our state. In 1990 and 2000 she was awarded the honorary titles "Honored Artist" and "People's Artist", in 2007 and 2017 - the orders "Shohrat" and "Sharaf".

F. Alizadeh is the only Azerbaijani who was awarded the honorary title of "Artist of the World" by UNESCO.
