Issues related to seismic tomography in Azerbaijan

In connection with seismic tomography work conducted by ANAS Republican Seismic Survey Center, US seismologists, employees of the E. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory of the USA, Professors Rengin Gok and Andrea Chiang and Professor of the Geological Survey of Canada Tuna Onur visited our country.

At the meeting with the guests, the director of the Republican Center of the Seismological Service, Corresponding Member of ANAS Gurban Etirmishli discussed issues related to seismic and tomographic work in the territory of Azerbaijan.

During the visit, American seismologists will conduct trainings for local specialists in the field of applying new methods of noise tomography and calculating the Mw value.

Professor of the Canada Geological Survey Tuna Onur will present the principles of the work of programs related to the study of seismic risk. In addition, new approaches in this area will be discussed. In this regard, to assess the seismic risk will be studied one of the important parameters - the evaluation of the earth's stress on the Earth's surface.
