Congratulations to the Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center on the occasion 65th anniversary!

Well-known scientist in Seismological- geophysics fields, Honored Scientist, Republican Seismic Survey Center, correspondent member of ANAS Qurban Jalal oghlu Yetirishli is 65 years on September 4.

Gurban Yetirmişli was born on September 4, 1952 in Marneuli, Georgia. In 1974 he graduated from the Geology and Exploration Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University's Mineral Deposits.

In 2000 he defended his PhD thesis on "Seismic-geomorphological conditions in the Lower Kura Depression and Distribution of Oil and Gas Fields in Cuttings" in 2010, defending his PhD thesis on "Southern Caspian Depression Seismicity (Azerbaijan sector)". In 2014, he was elected as a corresponding member of ANAS.

The scientist began his labor activity in 1975 as a senior lecturer at the Institute of Geology of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. In 1977-1980 he continued his career as an engineer, senior engineer and leading engineer at the Geophysical Instrumentation Special Constructor Bureau of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. From 1980 to 1984 he worked as deputy head of the seismological party at the Experimental-Methodical Geophysical Expedition of the Geophysics Scientific Center, deputy head of the expedition in 1984-2000, and first deputy director of the Republican Seismological Service Center of ANAS in 2000-2008. Since 2008 he has been the director of this center. Q.Yetirmişli is a prominent specialist and well-deserved in the seismic and geophysical fields. The main directions of his scientific activity are focused on seismology, seismotomography, geodynamics, problems of earthquake prediction, seismicity of oil and gas regimes, flow of wells and activity of mud volcanoes. He is the organizer of works on seismic zoning of the territory of Azerbaijan and microrayonization of large cities of the republic.

For the first time in Azerbaijan, a rare geodynamic monitoring system has been created for the first time in Azerbaijan, consisting of 35 telemetric seismic stations, 22 space geodetic GPS stations, 25 metering stations, 9 magnetometers, 4 gravimetric and 6 seismic-chemical stations.

He is the editor-in-chief of the Scientific Magazine "Seismic Surveillance Catalog in Azerbaijan", editor of the Map of the Strong Earthquakes of Azerbaijan for 427-2010, member of the Editorial Board of the "News" (Earth Sciences Series) magazine.

He is the President of the Association of Seismological Associations of Azerbaijan, international and foreign scientific organizations - AGU (American Geophysical Union), ORFEUS (European Seismological Surveillance and Research Center), IRIS (United Seismological Research Institute), EMSC (European Mediterranean Seismological Center), ESC (European Seismology Commission) and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the head of a number of international grant projects. He has repeatedly represented Azerbaijani science in international congresses, symposiums, conferences and meetings in different countries around the world.

The results of the scientist's research are reflected in 3 monographs and over 130 scientific works. Under his guidance, two PhDs have been trained.

Q.Yetirmişli's activity was highly appreciated by our state. He was awarded the Progress medal by the decree of the President of the country in 2005 and was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Scientist" in 2015.
