Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The National Museum of Azerbaijan History of ANAS continued to adopt material cultural samples in the current year to carry out research, propaganda and protection of our historical heritage.

Among the accepted samples there are 104 archeological and 1 random findings. These examples were found by the employees of the Department of Archeology and Ethnography Institute in 2017 at the necropolis near Damirchi village of Shamakhi region.

The finds consist of household appliances - kitchenware and tableware, metal decorations, various types of beads, as well as iron swords and daggers used in military operations. According to storage conditions, some of the findings are intact and excellent, while others are broken, incomplete and inadequate.

It is assumed that the samples of material culture discovered belong to the ancient period. These findings are also valuable as reflective of Caucasian Albanian populations' burial customs, living, relationships and artistic taste.
