Winter starts in Baku time 20.27 on December 21. On this day the Earth will pass through the point of the winter solstice, after which in the northern hemisphere will be experienced winter.

According to deputy director of scientific work at Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, PhD in physics Khidir Mikaylov a few days after the passage of the Earth through the point of the winter solstice, the days become longer and the nights shorter.

A characteristic feature of the winter solstice is the fact that on this day there is the shortest day and the longest night.
