Well-known scientist in the field of oil chemistry and chemical catalysis correspondent member of ANAS Hafiz Alimardanov is 70th.

Hafiz Alimardanov was born in Lahij settlement of Ismayilli region in 1948. In 1971 graduated from the Chemistry faculty of the present Baku State University (BSU) with a honors diploma and entered post-graduate student of Petrochemical Processes Institute named after Y.M.Mammadaliyev.

In 1975, he was nominated for a study titled "Investigation of Cyclopentanone and its Hybrids to C5-C8 Alpha Olefins and Preparation of Hepptycliclopentanone Acquisition Process", and in 1993, "Oxidizing dehydrogenation of cycloolefins with the participation of oxidized and sealite catalysts of five and six alkyl hydrocarbons" He defended his doctoral dissertation on his doctoral dissertation and received his scientific name in 2005. In 2014 he was elected as a corresponding member of ANAS.

The main direction of H.Alimardanov's scientific activity is the development of scientific bases of various transformation of alicyclic hydrocarbons and their functional derivatives. He for the first time determined the possibility of high selectivity of naphtha hydrocarbons with alicyclic unsaturated hydrocarbons in the presence of catalytic and oxidative dehydrogenation, dehydrodeisproporization, dehydroalkylation with low molecular weight alcohols with the participation of catalysts based on polyvalent metals, natural and synthetic sealites. For the first time, the scientist has also developed and utilized industrial applications of a number of lactones and spiroacetals for low molecular weight ketones with isomerization, alkylation, induction oxidation, and participation of alicyclic unsaturated hydrocarbons.

Chemist scientist is the author of 330 scientific works, including 32 author's certificates and patents, 3 textbooks and 1 monograph. He was awarded the "USSR inventor" badge for his invention applied in industry.

Under his leadership, four doctors of sciences and 10 PhDs have been trained.

H.Alimardanov received the Expert Council on Chemistry under the Higher Attestation Commission, the Chemistry Expert Council under the State Commission for Student Admission, the Scientific Council of ANAS, the Coordination Council for Petrochemicals, the petrochemicals and oil refining processes and the Azerbaijan Chemical Magazine, magazine's editorial staff.

The scientist was awarded with Honorary Decrees by the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
