ANAS Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry held an event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the prominent Azerbaijani chemist, Honored Scientist, Hero of Socialist Labor, academician Murtuza Nagieva.

Opening the event, vice-president of ANAS, director of the institute, academician Dilgam Tagiyev said that, conference is held within the framework of the Order of President Ilham Aliyev "On holding the 110th anniversary of academician Murtuza Nagiyev" dated November 2, 2017. He noted that, the main areas of scientific activity of M.Nagiyev were chemistry and oil technology, kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical reactions. The fundamental principle formulated by the scientist was the generalizing principle of super optimality, which implies carrying out a chemical process under conditions that ensure maximum reactor productivity and minimize generation of waste.

D.Tagiyev noted that, academician Murtuza Nagiyev is the founder of the theory of recycling processes adopted in the world as a new scientific direction in the field of chemistry and chemical technologies.

The vice-president of ANAS stressed that, the author of the first textbook on oil technologies in his native language M.Nagiyev made a great contribution to the Azerbaijani science. It was noted that in 1956-1957 a chemist-scientist was an academician-secretary of the Physical and Technical Department of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, in 1957-1959 - first vice-president of ANAS, 1959-1962 - academician-secretary of the Department of Chemistry, 1962-1967 - academician secretary of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. In 1952 he became a active member of ANAS.

Noted that, M.Nahiev is the author of more than 300 scientific works, 12 author's certificates and 30 fundamental monographs, D.Tagiev brought to the attention that the scientist was awarded the honorary title of Honored Scientist, Hero of Socialist Labor, including the Order of Lenin, Red Labor banner and a number of others.

In conclusion of his speech, D.Tagiyev noted that an international conference on the anniversary of the prominent scientist, as well as the competition "Nagiyev Readings" among young people, and the awarding of the best scientific report by the Murtuza Nagieva Prize will take place in September this year.

Student of a scientist, Doctor of chemical sciences Nemat Alizadeh, Professor Ikhtiyar Bakhtiarly, Ph.D. in Chemistry Vagif Gasimov and others spoke about the scientist's rich scientific activity and shared their memories of him.

In conclusion, son of a prominent scientist, vice-president of ANAS, director of the Scientific Center "Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia", academician Tofig Nagiyev expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.
