The winners of the Global Energy Prize were Academician Alekseenko and Professor Green

Laureates of the international energy prize “global energy” in 2018, become a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Sergey Alekseenko and Professor Martin green (Australia).

“Our first winner – Sergei Alekseenko from Russia. The second winner is a Professor at the University of New South Wales Martin green,” announced a member of the international Committee awarding the “global energy” RAE Kwon Chung.

Academician, former Director of the Institute of Thermophysics Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Alekseenko was awarded for the preparation of thermophysical basics of creating a modern energy and energy-saving technologies and their application in the modernization of power plants, waste processing facilities, and for developing the concept of cooling of different systems, from powerful computing to nuclear power plants.

“It was unexpected, despite the fact that I think the fifth time I hit it in the shortlist. I even thought my time had passed. I think this is a very prestigious award, I really appreciate it,” said TASS Sergei Alekseenko.

Professor Martin green awarded the prize for research, development and educational activities in the field of photovoltaics.

In 2017-2018 for the award were nominated by 44 scientists from 14 countries. Short-listed nominees for the prize global energy for 2018 were the head of Tesla Inc. Elon Musk.

Alekseenko noted that he had received an award for cumulative work in the field of physics – the science that provides the basic energy research. Work Alekseenko cover such areas as fossil fuels, renewable energy sources (RES), from solar to geothermal energy; and energy conservation and energy storage.

Scientists believe that in the future the most promising areas for scientific work will increase the efficiency of use of fossil fuels, development of renewable energy sources, primarily geothermal and creating more efficient sources of energy storage.

International energy prize “global energy” award for scientific development in the field of energy. Was established in November 2002. With the initiative of its creation was made by a group of Russian scientists headed by the Nobel Prize winner in physics Zhores Alferov.

The prize is awarded for fundamental research, theoretical developments, discoveries and inventions providing new opportunities in energy development.

Winners of the award may be citizens of any state. Laureates are awarded a diploma, a commemorative medal, the Golden honorary badge and a cheque for a sum of money. The size of the bonus Fund in 2018 is 39 million rubles.

The founders of the award – the Russian company of OJSC “Gazprom”, JSC “FGC UES” and JSC “Surgutneftegas”.

The decision on awarding is made by the international Committee for the award, which includes 20 professionals in the field of energy from Russia, the UK, Germany, China, USA, France and others. In 2013 the Committee is chaired by a British scientist Rodney John Allam.
