World Economic Forum issued a report on ICT

Azerbaijan outstripped a number of the leading countries on development indicators

In the annual report “The global report on development of information technologies – 2014” (The Global Information Technology Report - 2014) made by the World economic forum on an indicator “An index of network readiness”. Azerbaijan rose from the 56th place year earlier by the 49th among 148 countries. Azerbaijan always taking high positions in comparison with the states of the CIS, and this time outstripped a number of the developed states. On a rating “Territory coverage by a network of mobile phones” Azerbaijan is on the first place that says that all territory of the country is captured by a signal of a mobile network. At the same time on the ICT main components influencing on “Index of network readiness”, such as number of Internet users on 100 people, Azerbaijan takes the 59th place on number of users of the broadband Internet - the 46th place, thus, taking leading positions in the CIS. Along with it on innovative ability of the companies Azerbaijan took in the world the 35th place, the highest among the states of the CIS. That in comparison with the states with the high average income Azerbaijan received higher average values and on an indicator of the state priorities in the sphere of ICT deserves attention also and took the sixth place. Being the first across the CIS, Azerbaijan on progress of the government in the sphere of promotion of ICT sector occupied the eighth, and by efficiency of the state online services - the 1st place. According to the report, Azerbaijan outstripped Italy (the 58th place), Poland (54), Slovakia (59), Montenegro (52) in Europe, and also from neighboring countries - Turkey (51), Georgia (60), Iran (104). At the same time Azerbaijan outstripped such world giants, as China (62), Brazil (69) and Mexico (79).
