Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) held a ceremony of signing of Understanding Memorandum between ANAS and State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic (SCC) on November 8.

At the event, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev said that, since 1993, ANAS has provided comprehensive intellectual support to the State Customs Committee in the field of ICT, employees of one of the departments of the Institute of Information Technology were sent to the State Customs Committee: great success in the relevant field.

It is no coincidence that, in 2002 the United Nations Development Program highly appreciated the achievements obtained by the SCC in the field of ICT”.

Noting that, a knowledge society is currently being formed in the country, Academician-Secretary of ANAS stressed that, protecting the economic interests of Azerbaijan and ensuring economic security are important tasks.

He added that, the fulfillment of all these tasks relies on scientific support and intellectual potential. Academician Rasim Alguliyev said that, in the course of eliminating threats and risks in customs, ICT is one of the priority areas.

Academician said that, for processing and analyzing data obtained by the SCC, it is necessary to use Big Data and supercomputer technologies. Academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that, all this was reflected in the memorandum, ANAS is ready to support the SCC in the future.

For discussing the above issues, future plans, joint activities and projects academician suggested organizing a round table.
