Archeological excavations are being carried out on the territory of Salbir and Antique city of Gabala

Antique and First Middle Ages Gabala Archeological Expedition under the leadership of PhD in History Jeyhun Eminli, leading researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, conduct archaeological excavations on the territory of Salbir and Antique city of Gabala.

The goal is to study the culture of early urban culture in Gabala, the problem of urbanization and the sustainable way of life based on the cultural layers.

At present, a large-scale complex of more than 400 square meters is being studied in the Salbir residential area of ​​ancient Gabala. During the research, it was determined that a building belonging to the complex had two floors. Roofs and baked bricks were widely used in the construction of the building. After falling down the stairs on the lower floor of the building, through the stairs, corridors revealed the presence of rooms in different directions. The corridors and rooms are furnished with baked bricks and covered with puddles. In the interior walls of the building, skirts covered with geometric patterns were also discovered.

The complex of XII-XIV centuries includes corridors, auxiliary rooms, circular ponds, water line from pottery tunnels, heating equipment, farm wells, oven.

Parallelly, "Azerbaijan-Korea International Archeological Expedition" is conducting an excavation in Salbir area Joint Studies In the central part of the sediment, the reservoir is likely to be in the sedimentary location.

After a 2-year break, the expedition conducts research in the area of ​​Chaggali. Excavations are continuing around the pottery workshop discovered as a result of large-scale excavations conducted for many years.

It should be noted that archaeological research is carried out with the financial support of SEBA (Seoul-Baku) Azerbaijan-Korea Cultural Exchange Association.
