Head of Laboratory № 2 of the Strategic Scientific Research Center of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Physics Farid Ahmadov and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Radiation Problems, PhD in Physics Gadir Ahmadov were on a business trip to the Czech Republic.

The visit was undertaken as part of an agreement between ANAS Strategic Scientific Research Center and the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics, Czech Technical University on development of detectors and cooperation of the parties in international practice.

As part of the trip, was held a meeting with Director Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics, Czech Technical University, Dr. I.Shtekl, during which were held discussions on the upcoming work, the parties discussed the selection, improvement and implementation of an expanded development regime for a new module in the framework of joint cooperation between the two agencies.

To test the spectroscopic regime of the new detector using the MAPD sensors and LFS scintillators developed on the basis of recommendations of Azerbaijani scientists, the registration sensitivity of gamma rays (14-122keV) emitted by the Co-57 isotope was studied.

It has been shown that these types of detectors can be successfully used to record ionizing radiation. It was decided to study the detector module in the power range from 1 kV to 5000 kV for the implementation of the module in the field of spectroscopy.

In order to improve the qualifications of TsSNI employees in the field of electronics and to develop future joint projects, a meeting was held with Dr. I.Georgiev from the West Bohemian University of the Czech Republic, during which future prospects for cooperation in ERASMUS projects were discussed. In addition, meetings were held with Dr. Hana Buresova, Director of the detector technology department of the Czech company NUVIA GROUP.

During the meeting, was held a seminar on the parameters of the MAPD diodes and the field of their application, prepared by ANAS employees. Based on the recommendations, it was decided to use MAPD photodiodes in scintillation detectors and to organize joint cooperation in the future.

It should be noted that, the main activity of the Laboratory № 2 of ANAS Strategic Scientific Research Center is the production of special-purpose photon and ionizing radiation detectors. The opening of the laboratory on December 18, 2017 was attended by the President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh, vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Samadov and head of ANAS Strategic Scientific Research Center, Doctor of political Fatali Abdullayev.
