Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

State Academic Philharmonic Society of Azerbaijan after Muslim Magomayev held a ceremony dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the outstanding public and political figure of the Turkic world, orientalist Ahmad Bey Agaoglu on October 2.

The event was attended by representatives of the government, local and foreign scientists, as well as the grandson and great-grandchildren of Ahmed bey Agaoglu. At the beginning, a documentary was shown about the life of Ahmad Bey Agaoglu. The life and activity of the great personality was brightly illuminated in the 30-minute documentary.

ANAS president, academician Akif Alizadeh spoke at the event and shared his view on A.Agaoglu. Academician noted that, Ahmad Bey Agaoglu was always in the forefront of the national struggle. In all his works, the concepts of peace and tranquility occupied a special place in his ideology.

Further, the Azerbaijan ambassador to Hungary, researcher of Ahmad Bey Agaoglu heritage Vilayat Guliyev spoke about various aspects of the national struggle conducted by the great thinker, who was also a scientist and lawyer. It was noted that, Ahmad Bey Agaoglu is a patriotic figure who has always been in the forefront of the national awakening movement, as well as a consistent supporter of modernization policies in the Muslim East.

The great-grandson A.Agaoglu expressed thanks and appreciation for participating in this event. He noted that, he has the archive of Ahmed bey Agaoglu. “The 150th anniversary of Ahmed bey gave us a new idea. “We want to create Ahmad Bey Agaoglu Museum in Baku. When the museum is created, I will bring the archive to Baku and donate it to the Museum” he added.

The event continued with an artistic part.
