Professor Maisa Rahimova, director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, met with Bruno Genito, a professor of the Iranian Archeology and Art History Department of Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean Department of the Naples Eastern University, and Manuel Castelluccia, a researcher of the Italian Institute of Middle and Far East”.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS and Naples Eastern University for a five-year period on June 9, 2017. During the discussions it was decided to organize an international archaeological expedition together with the Italian archeologists to conduct research on archeological monuments in the country. It was informed that the monuments intended for the research will be chronologically from the last Bronze to the Early Iron Age.

Currently, Italian archaeologists are reviewing the monuments to be investigated by Azerbaijan-Italy International Expedition in future, accompanied by chief department of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS PhD in History Safar Ashurov, and a leading researcher of the institute PhD in History Assoc. Prof. Mikayil Mustafayev.
