Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On January 6, the outstanding chemist, Honored Teacher of the Republic of Azerbaijan, laureate of the Order of Shohrat, ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, academician Dilgam Tagiyev, turns 70 years old.

Dilgam Taghiyev was born on January 6, 1950 in Kelbajar. In 1971 he graduated from the chemistry department of Baku State University with honors. In 1975, defending his  PhD thesis on "Research on the conversion of olefins on zeolite catalysts", the scientist received a PhD degree and in 1984 - a doctorate in chemical sciences, defending a doctorate on the topic "Catalytic systems based on zeolites and silica gels for oxidative dehydrogenation and pyrolysis of hydrocarbons ".

The scientific activity of Dilgam Taghiyev is devoted to the development of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts for the reactions of hydrogenation, oxidation, isomerization, alkylation, oxygen dehydrogenation, oligomerization of various classes of hydrocarbons, the study of the mechanism of action of catalysts, synthesis and the study of biologically active metal complexes.

ANAS Vice-President is the author of 750 scientific works, including 21 monographs, books and textbooks, 60 patents and certificates. Many of his articles have been published in reputable journals included in the Clarivate Analytics database. Under the guidance of the scientist, 5 doctors of sciences and 13 doctors of philosophy were trained.

The scientific and organizational activities of a chemical scientist are highly appreciated by the state. He was awarded the medals "For Distinctions in Labor" and "Tereggi", as well as the Order of "Shohrat" and was awarded the honorary title of Honored Teacher of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

We congratulate academician Dilgam Taghiyev on his 70th birthday and wish him robust health, success in scientific and pedagogical activity!
