Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of ANAS, the IAE Kosyagin and Sergei Mironov held a press conference on the facts shared about the enterprise by unidentified persons – Igor Kosyagin and Segei Mironov.

The aim was to inform the public about the position of the SAO by presenting official documents.

During the event, director of the observatory, corresponding member of ANAS Namig Jalilov said that the SAO is a modern facility that can address current problems of astrophysics using methods and techniques used by the world's leading organizations to monitor the celestial bodies. He noted that in 2018, according to a competition by the US company Clarivate Analytics, the observatory was ranked first among regional scientific institutions in Azerbaijan. In addition, as a result of purposeful scientific and organizational work, in recent years, the number of articles published by scholarly journals with impact factor has increased three times.

Speaking about international cooperation of the organization led by N.Jalilov, the observatory is the winner of grant projects of the European Union Fp7 and Horizon 2020 programs, and young researchers of the enterprise conduct research in scientific centers of Germany and Belgium within the PhD and “Postdoc” programs.

Subsequently, examples of official documents on the charges were presented to the media, and questions were responded.

After the press conference, the media representatives got acquainted with the conditions created at the observatory.
