Russian scientists have found bacteria in the Arctic that could become the basis of a drug for cleansing soils from oil products, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology said in a statement.
“Specialists from Rosneft and the Russian Arctic National Park (Arkhangelsk Region), within the framework of a comprehensive joint project “Clean Arctic”, discovered bacteria that can be used to develop an innovative drug for cleaning soil from oil products. A unique feature of bacteria is that they are able to decompose oil products at low temperature (2-6 degrees),” the report says.
