Corresponding member of ANAS Namig Jalilov: “Scientific work carried out within the framework of international projects is continued from a distance”

Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory (SAR) named after N.Tusi of ANAS carries out its activity in accordance with the requirements of the special quarantine regime. With the exception of employees of the observatory working in special mode, other employees continue their activities remotely.

Director of the organization, corresponding member of ANAS Namig Jalilov said that SAR employees are holding online discussions with the heads of work and topics on the implementation of research work envisaged in the action plan for 2020. Due to the situation, observations at the observatory's telescopes have been suspended.

The scientist noted that scientific research carried out within international projects is being carried out remotely. According to him, scientific research and future plans are being discussed via Skype within the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie grant project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, which the institute won.

Corresponding member of ANAS N.Jalilov also spoke about distance learning courses organized for 5 masters in the institution. He said that online classes are organized by observatory scientists for first-year masters. The second-year masters are involved in scientific and pedagogical practice. The director noted that two employees of the observatory are currently working in leading organizations in European countries.

The scientist spoke about the disinfection of all working rooms in the main building of the observatory, including museums, conference halls, libraries and corridors, laboratory and telescope buildings, as well as vehicles on the balance of the observatory, reliable protection of important facilities in the SAR.
