Geographical scientist conducted research in the mountains of Khizi

Head of the Department of Landscape Study and Landscape Planning, Institute of Geography after acad. Hasan Aliyev ANAS, PhD in Geography, Associate Professor Mirnuh Ismayilov has conducted research in the mountains of Khizi.

Noting the possibility of collecting information about the history and past of Khizi by studying these mountains, the researcher spoke about the geological origin, composition and red color of similar, but not repeating, Khizi mountains located on the southeastern tip of the Greater Caucasus mountains. He said that these colored mountains are also called Jurassic clays because they consist of rocks dating back to the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era. Jurassic clays are characterized by a high content of perium-containing chemicals, which are the cause of the red color of these rocks.

Noting that the layers formed different configurations on the colored mountain slopes, the scientist brought to the attention that in the past, as a result of mountain building, instead of a folding bed, blocks moved relative to each other, which led to the fact that the ancient rocks remained on the surface, and new ones lay in lower part. M. Ismayilov emphasized that from the point of view of tourism development it may be advisable to create tourist facilities in this place.
