Vertical deformations in the earth's crust studied for the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus

An online defense of the master's thesis was held at the Specialized Scientific Council on "Geophysical Engineering" of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS.

Khublar Fatalieva, a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Modern Geodynamics and Space Geodesy, master’s graduate student with a degree in Geophysical Methods for Search and Exploration of Oil and Gas Fields, presented her thesis on topic “Changing the gravitational field in time and analyzing periodicity (using the Sheki gravity station as an example).”

The aim of the study is to research the vertical deformations of the earth's crust for the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus based on the study of variations in the curvature of the Earth's gravitational field using data from the Sheki gravity station.

Khublar Fatalieva emphasized that the study of vertical deformations of the curvature of the earth's crust in the Sheki region is of great importance in high-precision work, such as laying oil and gas and water pipelines.

After the presentation, the master’s graduate responded questions from members of the commission.

The thesis was rated at 92 points.
