French scientists have identified a characteristic symptom in patients with severe COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus - increased inflammation and interferon deficiency. The results of the corresponding study are published in the journal Science.

In the course of the work, the researchers observed 50 patients in whom the disease was accompanied by various symptoms - from mild coughing to respiratory failure, due to which they were connected to artificial lung ventilation (ALV) devices.
