Online Conference Held on the Protection of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Turkic Republics

An online scientific-practical conference entitled “Historical and Cultural Monuments and Archaeological Heritage of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan: Prospects for the Protection of Common Cultural Heritage and the Development of Scientific Cooperation” was held under the moderation of Aynur Hasanli, Senior Researcher at the Ganja State Historical and Cultural Reserve, operating under the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The main objective of the conference was to further develop scientific cooperation in the study, preservation, promotion and transmission to future generations of the rich historical and cultural heritage, archaeological monuments, and material and cultural artifacts that have been formed over centuries by the peoples of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan is not only the national wealth of individual peoples, but also an important component of the common historical and cultural memory of the broader Turkic world.

The event featured detailed presentations by Parviz Gasimov, Deputy Director for Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, PhD in History, Associate Professor; Shamil Najafov, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, PhD in History, Associate Professor; Sultanbek Arstanbekovich Abdyrahmanov, Director of the Uzgen State Historical and Cultural Reserve of Kyrgyzstan; Almazbek Shadykbekovich Anarbayev, Deputy Director of the Uzgen State Historical and Cultural Reserve of Kyrgyzstan; and Selimkhan Seytakhanovich Selkhojayev, Inspector of the Department for the Protection and Registration of Historical and Cultural Heritage Monuments of the “Hazret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The presentations delivered at the conference once again demonstrated the relevance of the scientific study, preservation, digitization, promotion in museums, and transmission to future generations of the rich historical, cultural and archaeological heritage of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, prospects were identified for further developing scientific cooperation among the three countries in the fields of archaeology, history, museology and the protection of cultural heritage.

Employees of the reserves operating under the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan also participated in the event.
