Elmira Aliyeva, a renowned scientist in the field of geology, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan, head of the department of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, corresponding member of ANAS, turns 60 on September 12.

Elmira Hajimurad gizi Aliyeva was born on September 12, 1960 in the city of Baku. In 1982 he graduated from the Faculty of Geology and Geography of the Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University). She defended her doctoral dissertation on "Sedimentation cycle and facies of Mesocainozoic sediments of the western slope of the Middle and South Caspian basin."

E.Aliyeva, a highly qualified specialist in sedimentology and oil geology, has been working at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG) of ANAS since 1991, and currently works as the head of the department of lithogenesis of oil and gas basins. She was elected a corresponding member of ANAS in 2014.

E.Aliyeva is the author of about 200 scientific works, including 3 books. In addition, the geologist is the supervisor of 17 doctoral students, dissertators and master students.

The geologist was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2010 for his fruitful scientific and public activities.

We congratulate the corresponding member of ANAS Elmira Aliyeva on the 60th anniversary, wish her further success in her multifaceted activity and robust health.
